Why text-based therapy can help you get back on track

Posted by Victoria Walmesley on 25 August, 2023

Earlier this year, TALKWORKS partnered up with ieso, to offer text-based therapy in addition to the rest of our treatment and support. Text-based therapy involves scheduled one-to-one therapy sessions with a clinician from 6am – 11pm, 7 days a week. If you live in Devon (outside Plymouth), and are over the age of 18, you can access support for low mood, worry, stress, anxiety and sleep difficulties through TALKWORKS. Read more about why text-based therapy could be a good option for you below:

It’s completely confidential

Our online therapy sessions are confidential and take place via a secure platform. If you would like to access free online therapy, but are nervous about speaking to someone about your difficulties on a phone call or in person, text-based therapy could be a good option to consider. Plus with typed-therapy, there’s no risk of being overheard by someone you are close to, enabling you to speak freely with your therapist.

Therapy that suits your schedule

Text-based therapy is available every day of the week and can be scheduled to suit work around your lifestyle. You can also have online CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) sessions from the comfort of your own home, meaning that you don’t need to travel in order to receive support. Plus, the service can be accessed anywhere in the UK if you have a smart phone, laptop or tablet which can connect to the internet. If you work long hours or have changeable shift patterns, online therapy is an ideal way to receive support for your health and wellbeing, at a time that’s convenient for you.

Get supported in therapy and beyond

CBT sessions will supply you with a range of tools and techniques which you can continue to use long after your therapy sessions have ended. Through undertaking cognitive behavioural therapy, you will learn a whole range of skills which you can apply to day-to-day life, alongside useful coping mechanisms if you find yourself struggling. You’ll also be able to access past therapy sessions once you’ve completed treatment, plus you can message your therapist in between sessions if you need support with any of the tasks that you have been set.

If you think that text-based therapy is something that you would like to explore, you can refer yourself for support through ieso. Alternatively, if you would prefer to see a clinician face-to-face, you can contact TALKWORKS by calling 0300 555 3344 (phone lines are open Monday-Friday from 9am to 4:45pm) or by completing the online self-referral form on our website. Please remember that you don’t need to see a GP or healthcare professional before referring yourself for support from TALKWORKS - we offer a self-referral service to adults (age 18+) across Devon (outside Plymouth).
