Living well with a long term health condition

Free wellbeing workshops from the NHS

'Living Well with a Long Term Health Condition' is a two hour workshop which will introduce participants to a range of techniques to help you, or someone you love, manage living with a long term physical health condition. The workshop is open to adults (age 18+) living in Devon (outside Plymouth).

During the session, you will learn more about:

  • The physical impact of our thoughts and emotions on our bodies
  • The cycle of inactivity
  • Challenging your self-critic
  • Developing self-compassion
  • Managing worry
  • Improving motivation

All of the techniques in the workshop use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which looks at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact, which can impact both your mental and physical health.

The workshop is run by two practitioners who will give you step by step instructions on using the tools in your everyday life. The workshop will also include the opportunity for participants to ask questions, get involved in discussions and take part in a guided breathing exercise.

If you’d like to know more about how making changes to your wellbeing can benefit your physical health, this workshop is great first step for you to take.

Your experience with us

Your feedback matters

“I could not fault the service I received. I was listened to and given so many different resources to help my anxiety and depression. I was so very low a year ago but with the amazing support from my therapist I feel more and more myself every day. Thank you TALKWORKS.”

“I was apprehensive about using the service thinking I wasn't "bad" enough but a talk to the cardiac group by a TALKWORKS practitioner gave me confidence to self-refer. I was referred with respect and taken seriously throughout, felt safe and was given tools and advice to help myself take control of my situation.”

“The therapy gently supported me to both understand and come to terms with my diagnosis and how it has impacted on me as a person for so many years. I felt I could be open and honest in a very safe space. I not only feel better, I understand myself better too.”
