Start a conversation around mental health this Christmas

Spending time with loved ones over the festive period is a good opportunity to check in with how they are feeling. It can be really hard to start a conversation with someone about mental health, and one of the most important things you can do to put someone at ease is simply be there and listen. Offering reassurance will also help the person confiding in you to open up more easily, and will show that you both care and are there to support them. Friends and family members are often the first place that someone who is struggling will go to for support, but there is also additional help available.

TALKWORKS is here for adults (age 18+) across Devon who are struggling with low mood, sleep difficulties, worry, stress and anxiety. Treatment and support includes one-to-one sessions with a therapist, group therapy sessions, wellbeing workshops and access to online self-help. You do not need a referral from a GP to access TALKWORKS’ services, you can refer yourself online or over the phone. For more information on the different treatment options and therapy services, please visit the TALKWORKS website or call 0300 555 3344.
