TALKWORKS service users share their stories

TALKWORKS service users Lee, Alastair and Joe took part in a powerful video to share their real-life stories in a bid to get more people to open up about how they are feeling. In the video, the three men described the difficulties they were experiencing before accessing TALKWORKS, and what made them decide to reach out to the service for help. You can watch the video below or by clicking here.

The campaign was launched to raise awareness of common mental health difficulties and to encourage more men who are struggling with their mental health to access the support that is available.

As many as 1 in 8 men in England struggle with a common mental health problem. In 2021, 4129 men took their own lives, which equates to 11 men every day. Now, more than ever, it’s so important that we talk, and encourage others to start a conversation, about how we are feeling.

If you are finding things hard, please don’t wait for it to get worse before reaching out for support. TALKWORKS can help adults (aged 18+) struggling with a common mental health problem such as low mood, anxious thoughts, increased stress or sleep difficulties. Our service is part of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, and all treatment and support is accessible free of charge. You can self-refer to TALKWORKS online or by calling 0300 555 3344.
