Our free 'Living well with a long term condition' six-week group course is for adults (18+) living in Devon (outside Plymouth) who are receiving therapy from TALKWORKS

It is designed to help you if you are struggling with low mood, worry or stress alongside a physical health condition. The group is delivered by our Talking Health team, who work closely with adults living with a long-term condition.

What does the course cover?

  • The link between our mind and body, and how our physical health can affect our mood
  • Why pain happens and simple techniques for managing pain, stress and relaxation
  • How to spot unhelpful habits and find new ways to connect with your values
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based techniques to address behavioural changes related to a long-term condition and the grief cycle. These include negative thoughts, motivation, avoidance and worries
  • Techniques to build self-compassion, resilience and assertiveness for everyday life

The course helps participants to learn useful skills and simple ways to manage their condition and approach any challenges with more confidence.

Each of the sessions are run online via MS Teams so you must have a laptop, tablet or smartphone to join.
