At TALKWORKS, we have a Talking Health team who help people who are living with a long term condition. They are a team of therapists who understand both physical and emotional health difficulties. They can help with conditions such as:
- Diabetes
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory conditions
- Obesity
- Heart conditions
- Persistent pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) / chronic fatigue syndrome
- Gastrointestinal conditions and IBS
- Kidney conditions
- Rheumatological conditions
- Other long term conditions
Our team help people who feel low, stressed or anxious because of their long-term condition. They also work with other health teams to ensure that people living with a long term condition can get the support that they need.
What therapy options are available to me through the Talking Health team?
Some of the therapy available through our Talking Health team includes:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Counselling for depression
- Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)
- Interpersonal therapy (IPT)
- Prolonged grief disorder therapy (PGDT)
- Our 'Living well with a long-term health condition' six-week group course
- Our 'TALKWORKS for wellbeing' six week group course
- TALKWORKS for understanding IBS wellbeing workshop
- Access to online self-help
Please note: You need to be referred and have an assessment before joining the six-week 'Living well with a long-term health condition' or 'TALKWORKS for Wellbeing' course. The 'TALKWORKS for understanding IBS workshop' does not require an assessment.
