RG learns helpful coping mechanisms through self-referring to TALKWORKS

“The CBT programme has given me the tools to allow me to identify when I'm heading into a dark place and ultimately prevent me from disappearing down the rabbit hole.

RG reached out to  TALKWORKS  to access support for difficulties they were experiencing. Through working closely with a therapist and an employment advisor within the service, RG was able to develop tools and techniques to help get back on track.

When I self-referred to TALKWORKS, I was at the lowest point I'd ever been. Unresolved issues at work had led to a long period of stress sickness, depression and thoughts of self-harm and suicide. Thankfully I have a very understanding and supportive family and with signposting from my GP, I was really able to begin my journey of recovery.

My referral was dealt with surprisingly quickly and my first appointment with Ashley followed very soon afterwards. The support and empathy I have received from her has been valuable in checking in on my progress against goals and for encouraging engagement with  cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)  on  SilverCloud.

I was also referred to an Employment Advisor, Sue from the TALKWORKS  employment support  team, who was also really caring and empathetic and was a huge supporter in my endeavours to improve my employment situation.

The CBT programme has given me the tools to allow me to identify when I'm heading into a dark place and ultimately prevent me from disappearing down the rabbit hole.

I'm hugely appreciative to everyone at TALKWORKS; it's such a valuable service. I know I'm not completely out of the woods but I'm confident I'm able to cope much better going forwards.
