Mental Health Awareness Week: Access support for anxiety from TALKWORKS

Posted by Victoria Walmesley on 15 May, 2023

TALKWORKS therapists will be at the Devon County Show from Thursday 18 – Saturday 20 May. The team will be raising awareness of the mental health support available to adults across Devon, and how our service can help if you are struggling.

With the show taking place midway through Mental Health Awareness Week, we will be raising awareness of anxiety (this year’s theme), and some of the signs and symptoms to look out for. The team will be running a ‘Beat the Buzz’ game which looks at anxiety and our body’s physical response to threat. Anyone who manages to complete the game will get to have a go in their lucky dip and be in with the chance of winning a prize.

If you are struggling with increased stress, worry or are feeling anxious, you do not need to go through this on your own. TALKWORKS can offer support around managing anxiety in a number of different ways, including:
• One-to-one sessions with a therapist (face-to-face, over the phone or by video call)
• Group therapy sessions and wellbeing workshops
• Access to online self-help
• Live text-based therapy

You do not need a referral from a GP to access TALKWORKS’ services, you can refer yourself online or over the phone. The service is part of Devon Partnership NHS Trust and is free to access for adults (age 18+) living across Devon (outside Plymouth). For more information on the different treatment options and therapy services, please visit the TALKWORKS website or call 0300 555 3344 (our phone lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am - 4:45pm).
