Sharon shares her story

Sharon contacted TALKWORKS for help with low mood and anxious thoughts which were impacting her day-to-day life. Through working with a therapist and employment advisor, she was able to feel better and more like herself.

“I had been really struggling to manage feelings of depression, frustration and anxiety as things were mounting in my work and personal life, causing an emotional downward spiral.

“I was referred to TALKWORKS for cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and it was such a relief to be able to talk with someone who was impartial and who had time to listen. My therapist had a gentle, calm approach and guided me through different tools, which I could work on between sessions. We were looking at self-care and sense of purpose, which I was initially struggling to prioritise, until I started to see my self-assessment scores improve each week.

“My therapist then referred me to the Employment Support team within TALKWORKS who were brilliant as I was finding my work life unmanageable and looking for alternative employment. I can’t thank Sue in the employment support team enough for the practical advice, resources and support she gave in that difficult time. This included giving key advice before interviews, sending helpful job postings and information and being an empathetic support who understood the challenges I was facing. I did find another job and am now happily settling in with a new team and role.

“My mental health is improving leaps and bounds as I now have the capacity to focus on other areas of physical and emotional health. I am truly healing on all fronts and so much happier. I am so hugely grateful for their help and highly recommend TALKWORKS to anyone - you don’t need to struggle on your own.”
