TALKWORKS can help people experiencing a mild to moderate common mental health problem such as low mood, stress, worry and anxiety. Unfortunately we are not able to meet the needs of everybody who comes to see us, so here are some other services who may be better placed to help:
Urgent mental health support
- If you require urgent mental health support and are in crisis - please call NHS 111 and select the 'mental health' option. You can also contact Samaritans – call 116 123 at any time of the day or night. If someone’s life is at risk, please call 999 or go to A&E as soon as possible
If your primary problem is:
- Bipolar disorder, cyclothymia, psychosis, schizophrenia or related to symptoms of personality disorder – please contact the Devon Mental Health alliance
- Anorexia and other restrictive eating disorders – please contact the Devon Mental Health alliance or the Community Eating Disorder Service. You can also access support from BEAT.
- Dementia – please contact your GP
- A severe learning disability – please contact your GP
- Dependence on drugs and/or alcohol – please contact the Together Drug and Alcohol service or SMART Recovery for help with addictions
- Problem gambling or other addictions – please reach out to the South West Gambling Service
- Very complex post-traumatic stress disorder – please contact the Devon Mental Health alliance
- A need for marriage guidance or relationship counselling – please contact Relate
- Difficulties with emotional regulation, anger and/or impulsive behaviour- please contact the Devon Mental Health alliance
- Sexual dysfunction – please contact Devon Sexual Health
