At TALKWORKS, we understand that people in LGBTQ+ communities can face extra pressures in life, including stress, low mood, anxiety or feeling isolated. If you are struggling, you don’t need to manage these feelings on your own. TALKWORKS is a free and confidential NHS service, open to adults, age 18+, living in Devon (excluding Plymouth which is covered by Plymouth Options). We’re here to help improve your mental and physical wellbeing so that you can get back to feeling like yourself again.
You deserve to be heard
We understand that many people in the LGBTQ+ community can face extra challenges in daily life. Experiences of homophobia or transphobia, past or present, can affect how you feel about yourself and others. These experiences can lead to low mood, anxiety and feelings of isolation.
Sometimes, memories of prejudice or rejection can stay with us for a long time. Even if they happened years ago, they can still affect how we feel and our day-to-day lives.
How we can help LGBTQ+ communities
Many people come to TALKWORKS for help with difficulties such as:
- Feeling low, sad, or hopeless
- Worry, panic, or anxiety
- Stress from work, studies, family, or identity pressures
- Trouble sleeping
- Feeling overwhelmed or “stuck”
You do not need to see a GP before you contact TALKWORKS. You don’t need to be at rock bottom or in crisis either. The earlier you come and see us, the easier it is for us to help you.
